How extraction works in Escape from Playtime: the run loop, looting, hauling resources, and when to escape the factory.
Escape from Playtime Extraction Guide
Extraction is the whole game. You enter a procedurally generated factory zone, find and haul resources, and get out alive so the Voice's building project advances. Everything below comes from Mob's official descriptions — exact loot names, extraction point layouts, and timers stay unconfirmed — compare trailers (one, two) and the fan wiki interface page for clues until the October 1 playtest.
Written September 26, 2026. Loot tables and point layouts will be mapped hands-on after the beta.

The Run Loop
| Phase | What happens |
|---|---|
| 1. Drop | Squad spawns in the starter zone; agree a plan and rally point |
| 2. Search | Sweep rooms for resources — classrooms, storage, labs |
| 3. Haul | Carry finds toward the deposit or extraction route |
| 4. Pressure | Hunters escalate as noise and time build up |
| 5. Extract | Reach the extraction point alive and bank everything |

What You Are Collecting
Mob describes the objective as scavenging resources and building materials for the Voice's construction project — a shelter called A Better Place. Specific item names, rarities, and values are unconfirmed.
| Known | Unconfirmed |
|---|---|
| Resources are physical pickups you haul | Exact item names and stack sizes |
| Hauling advances the Voice's project | Per-item values and rarity tiers |
| Heavier runs are riskier by design | Weight / slowdown numbers |
Any site publishing exact loot names or values before October 1 is guessing. Our tables go live after verification — see the release timeline.
Extraction Points
Official footage shows industrial exits — freight elevators with glowing doors deep in the complex — but Mob has not named the extraction points or published layouts.
| Confirmed | Unconfirmed |
|---|---|
| Exits are physical locations you must reach | Names, count per zone, and positions |
| Extracting alive banks your haul | Channel times, lockdown sequences |
| Procedural zones reshuffle layouts | Whether exits are fixed or randomized |
Tactics that hold regardless of layout: scout your exit path before you are heavy, never let the carrier lead into uncleared rooms, and count heads before anyone touches the exit. Zone layouts are covered in the map guide.
The Pressure Curve
Every extraction game runs on one tension dial: the longer and louder you are, the harder the factory pushes back. Confirmed tools on both sides:
| Your tools | Factory pressure |
|---|---|
| Hiding spots | Hunter patrols (CatNap) |
| Distraction items | Escalating enemy presence |
| Alternate routes | Procedural dead-ends |
| Wall climbing (Mini bodies) | Vertical hunters (unconfirmed) |
| Factory events (e.g. Zoomies speed boost) | Factory events (unconfirmed negatives) |
An official screenshot shows a Zoomies factory event: monitors announce it and everyone's movement speed increases. Events clearly cut both ways — read every announcement before celebrating.

When to Extract: The 60% Rule
For beginners: leave when the run is 60% of what you hoped for. You keep 100% of a modest haul and 0% of a corpse. Push deeper only when all three hold: the squad is healthy, the exit path is scouted, and the carrier has backup. Details in the beginner guide.
Squad Roles for Haul Runs
| Role | Job |
|---|---|
| Carrier | Hauls; never scouts ahead |
| Scout | Clears the next room, calls loot |
| Rear guard | Watches the back trail, calls the retreat |
| (4th) Floater | Reinforces wherever pressure lands |
More compositions in the co-op guide.
FAQ
What do I lose if I die during extraction?
The exact death penalty is unconfirmed. Genre standard is losing what you carried — play as if that is the rule until Mob publishes otherwise.
Can I extract alone while my team keeps looting?
Mechanically probably yes; tactically it splits the squad at its weakest moment. Extract together unless the run is already decided.
Do extracted resources persist between runs?
Persistence and meta-progression systems are unconfirmed. The Voice's building project implies some persistence — details after the beta.
Are extraction points the same every run?
Zones are procedurally generated, so expect shuffled layouts. Whether exits are fixed landmarks is unconfirmed.
How many players does extraction need?
Any squad size from 1 to 4 works. Duos and trios balance speed and safety best for learning runs.
